Senior Portraits - Parent's Information

This is one of the singly most significant years in your senior's entire life!

Shouldn't it be properly recognized and remembered with quality senior portraits?

If your family was like mine, graduating from high school was just a fundamental part of life - no different than breathing on a regular basis.

So although we're proud, we parents tend to take it for granted. It's just what is expected.

But stop for a minute and think about what it took to actually reach graduation….

Graduating from high school is truly the longest single task that most people will ever accomplish in their entire lives - 15 years (starting with pre-school) of full time work, dedication, commitment, and at times blood, sweat and tears. On both your part and the part of your senior.

There are very few, if any,  other tasks in their entire life that they’ll work on that long on a full time basis before they can say “I DID IT!”  (Parenting doesn't’t count – you’re NEVER really done with that.)

Now, consider the fact that only 69% of incoming freshman actually graduate in four years, and you begin to understand just how significant this accomplishment is.

If reaching this wonderful goal weren't enough, most seniors also turn 18 this year.

When I ask them about it, their faces light up, and a big smile usually crosses their lips. They're EXCITED about it.

This is one of life’s major milestones, because finally, they're no longer a child (at least in their minds). They've MADE IT. From now until forever, they'll be an ADULT. And it's a pretty exciting thought.

Growing up is a tough business, especially in today's world.  These young adults faced challenges I never even though of when I was growing up.

And as parents, you have to take great pride in successfully navigating them through  the challenges of childhood and helping them grow to be the person that they’ve become.

It’s IMPORTANT that we celebrate and recognize all that it’s taken or their part and on yours to get them to this point in their lives, ready to start to really venture into the world.

But there’s one more point, and this one is for you, not for them…

As excited as we are to have them reach this goal, it’s also a bittersweet time, because for many of them, it means they’ll be leaving home and going off to school, or otherwise venturing out into the world.

I remember taking my oldest daughter to school when she started college.  We spent the day getting her dorm room all set up, her computer wired up, her stereo system (days before Ipods) all put into place, clothes all put away and all the other preparations that were a part of getting set up.

And as we were walking to the car to come back home, IT STRUCK ME….

SHE WASN”T GOING TO BE COMING HOME WITH ME!

This little girl, whom I watched with wonder as she was born, and who was a big part of my everyday life, wasn't going to be there every day any more.  She was starting on her own life now.

The tears started flowing down my cheeks, and even today, 14 years later, as I write this, my eyes start to well up just a little thinking about it.

Gone from our lives were all those activities that were so important as she was growing up.  Her activities were our activities as well.

Gone were all her friends, off to college as well.

So the final reason we need to do something special is FOR YOU.

Like it or not, your life is going to change as well.

So, we want to capture the essence of who this very important person is at this point in their lives.  We want to create portraits of them that will forever remind you of what they were all about, and what your life was like as well.

For many of my seniors, their senior portraits are the first time they've ever been professionally photographed.

This is your last chance to capture their childhood, freeze for all time the memories that you’ll treasure for the rest of your lives as well.

Doesn't all this deserve something special, something unique, portraits that touch your heart every time you walk past where they’re displayed in your home?

Quality senior portraits help fill the nest left empty because they had the audacity to grow up!
