Adventures - Children's Portraits for ages 6-12

The start of school and the start of the adventure stage of their lives. They begin to strike our into the world, and start to exercise a little independence from their parents.

As old as I am, I still have vivid, wonderful memories of some of the firsts at this time in my life. I remember how incredibly excited I was when putting on my Cub Scout uniform for the very first time, with that snazzy yellow kerchief and all those neat patches on my shirt.

I remember how proud I was in my Little League baseball uniform, especially when I made the Majors at age 10. The whole uniform, complete with stirrup socks and cleats instead of tennis shoes. I had to rush home and put it on and look in the mirror. I'd finally MADE IT!

Every child has lots of first at this time and every one of them should be remembered. Oh, how I wish I had a great portrait of me in either of those uniforms, the pride beaming in my face. But all I have is my memories, because neither of my parents even thought of it. All I have is my pack and team pictures, and i was just one of a bunch of faces.

Children of this age are also still fresh, freckly faced creatures, free to summersault or squish the mud between their toes. It's a great time to capture that freshness, that innocence, before the Dark Ages (adolescence and the teen years) set in.
